Passenger insurance

RIA members and employees under the age of 80 who are permanently resident in Finland for more than six months in a calendar year, have their permanent residence in Finland and are covered by the Finnish Health Insurance Act are insured.

Insurance cover is linked to membership of the association. If a member resigns or is expelled from the association, cover ends immediately.

When a member reaches the age of 80, cover ends at the end of the current year.

The insurance is valid for a maximum of 45 days from the start of each individual leisure trip at home or abroad. The Union’s electronic membership card contains the details of the insurance, so it also serves as a travel insurance card.

Children under the age of 20 travelling with their insured parent on the same trip are covered, but only under one policy at a time. The children are covered under the same insurance as the member.

Professional liability and legal expenses insurance

Employees working for another person and self-employed persons, whether full-time or part-time, who do not have subordinates and who carry out assignments under commissioned contracts are covered.

The insurance covers personal injury, damage to property and other expenses incurred by the insured person as an employee in connection with his or her employment.

Please note the specific conditions:

The liability insurance shall not cover damages and costs caused to the Client by errors or omissions, results of surveys or measurements, calculations, drawings or specifications, advice or instructions given in the course of professional consultancy or advisory activities.

Liability insurance is valid in the Nordic countries. Legal expenses insurance is also valid outside the Nordic countries, subject to certain conditions laid down in the collective agreement.

Student and senior members are not covered by liability and legal expenses insurance.

Compensation under the insurance is paid to members of the Union whose membership has lasted at least ten months at the time of the accident. For memberships of less than two years, the cause of the dispute or claim must have arisen during the period of membership.

Organisational insurance

The organisational insurance covers RIA members during the association’s organisational activities and events. The insurance covers personal injury and property damage.
