Member Benefits

As a RIA member, you receive a comprehensive range of member benefits. Their combined financial value is many times greater than the membership fee.

When making use of member benefits and discounts, you can prove your membership with the RIA App, i.e. the mobile membership card.

RIA offers versatile employment relationship advisory services, whether the matter involves questions about pay at a new job or problems encountered during employment.

Help and guidance in many working life situations

The advisory service also includes legal services, available to both employee and entrepreneur members. A lawyer can assist in legal disputes, such as contract disputes, construction and design errors, fee disputes, occupational safety violations, and employment relationship disputes.

RIA and YTN cooperation

RIA and the Federation of Professional and Managerial Staff YTN have shared union representatives who advise and assist in workplaces. RIA union representatives, elected representatives, and occupational safety representatives can participate in YTN training for employee representatives.

In addition to being able to order several industry professional magazines free of charge as a RIA member, you will receive a member newsletter delivered to your email twice a month, helping you conveniently stay up to date on the key news in the field. The newsletter also contains information about current training and other member events. Please make sure your contact details are correct in the RIA member register!

Professional magazines
  • RIA magazine is the members’ own publication covering current topics related to construction, advocacy, and working life. It is sent to all RIA members for free, and also to various companies in the field, universities of applied sciences, and decision-makers in the sector.
  • Rakennuslehti is the largest news and professional magazine in the Nordic countries reaching staff and companies in the construction sector. Its weekly readership includes architects, engineers, construction managers, and other people in various design and management roles. RIA is one of Rakennuslehti’s owners.
  • Betoni is a professional magazine the mission of which is to convey the latest knowledge and most recent development prospects in concrete construction to construction sector professionals.

RIA’s membership fee includes If insurance policies that provide protection in both private life and work-related situations. Using the insurance requires that the membership fee has been properly paid by the due date at the time of the incident.

Travel insurance

RIA’s members and employees under 80 years old who reside permanently in Finland for more than six months per calendar year, whose permanent home is in Finland, and who are covered by Finland’s Health Insurance Act are insured.

Insurance coverage is tied to RIA membership. If a member resigns or is expelled from the association, coverage ends immediately. When a member turns 80, coverage ends at the end of the year.

The insurance is valid for a maximum of 45 days from the start of each individual leisure trip, domestic or abroad. The digital membership card contains the insurance details and therefore also serves as a travel insurance card.

Children under 20 travelling on the same trip with their insured parent are included in the insurance, though only under one policy at a time. Children have the same coverage as the member.

Professional liability and legal expenses insurance

Insured are association members working as employees in the service of another party. The insurance covers matters concerning the insured as an employee and relating to their employment relationship.

Also insured are association members working as independent entrepreneurs who, on a primary or secondary basis, carry out assignments alone without subordinates in matters related to an assignment agreement.

A condition for receiving compensation is that association membership has lasted at least ten months at the time of the loss event. If membership has lasted less than two years, the grounds for the dispute or charge must also have arisen during the period of membership.

Liability insurance covers personal injury, property damage, and other costs concerning the insured as an employee and relating to their employment relationship.

Legal expenses insurance covers legal and court costs in disputes and criminal matters related to employment and civil service relationships, as well as matters handled through administrative proceedings or administrative judicial procedure.

Please note the special conditions: Liability insurance does not cover damages and costs arising to the client from errors or deficiencies, research or measurement results, calculations, drawings or work specifications, or advice or instructions given in professional advisory or consulting activities.

Liability insurance is valid in the Nordic countries. Legal expenses insurance is also valid outside the Nordic countries under certain collective agreement conditions.

Student and senior members are not covered by the liability and legal expenses insurance.

Compensation is paid to association members whose membership has lasted at least ten months at the time of the loss event. For memberships of less than two years, the grounds for the dispute or charge must have arisen during the period of membership.

Association insurance

Association insurance protects RIA members during association duties and events, covering personal injury and property damage.
